The logo features a silhouette of the Asia Cup trophy, with the combination of an eagle and a lotus flower.
The eagle is said to be synonymous with the history of Qatar as the host country for this edition of the Asia Cup, while the lotus flower is a typical Asian plant. These two symbols represent the ability to soar high, with the eagle reigning in the sky and the lotus flower standing on water.
“The cup’s lines draw inspiration from the magnificent feathers of the eagle, a bird with historical significance for the people of Qatar, and the lotus flower, a native Asian plant. Two original symbols are united by one attribute: their ability to rise upward, just as the lotus flower floats on water and the eagle soars high in the sky,” according to AFC’s release on Thursday.
As known, the 2023 Asia Cup will kick off in January 2024. Qatar was officially appointed as the host country after China withdrew.
The 2023 Asia Cup was originally scheduled to take place in mid-2023. However, due to the change of host country, the schedule was delayed to follow the weather conditions in Qatar.
Nevertheless, the Indonesian national team is grouped in the “Group of Death.” They will face Japan, Vietnam, and Iraq in Group D.
